Early Detection for Preschoolers
The preschool years are a time of incredible growth and discovery. They are also a time when your child begins developing speech, language and social skills that are the building blocks for future academic success.
Not every preschooler masters the same skills at the same age. However, there are warning signs that your child may be having trouble acquiring important communication, learning and social skills. If you answer “yes” to any of the following questions, it may be a sign that your preschooler can benefit from PSLLC’s services. Please see our milestones brochure for more information.
Does your preschooler:
- Have trouble comprehending concepts or vocabulary?
- Have trouble expressing feelings, ideas, and experiences?
- Have trouble learning numbers, letters, or days of the week?
- Get distracted easily or fidget with hands, feet, or body?
- Have trouble listening, following directions, or answering questions?
- Have trouble interacting or playing with others?
- Have trouble pronouncing words or being understood?
Speech and Language Therapy for Preschoolers
We offer comprehensive speech and language services for preschoolers who need help with their speech, expressive and receptive language, pre-reading and listening skills, or are having trouble learning how to appropriately interact and communicate with others.
Building Socialization and Play Skills
PSLLC helps preschoolers develop language, interaction, and play skills that are critical to future success in school and in life. Our Purposeful Play Program brings together preschoolers for small group therapy sessions aimed at improving play, socialization, and early communication skills. These groups give children a unique opportunity to learn and practice social interactions such as playing cooperatively, negotiating, and reading body language, facial expressions, and emotional signals.
