Our team of professionals regularly
attends teaching and training conferences. Our speech-language pathologists hold
Masters Degrees in Speech-Language Pathology, are certified by the American
Speech-Language-Hearing Association and are licensed to practice in the state of
New Jersey.
Terri Rossman, M.S., CCC-SLP
Founding and Executive Director
Terri has been an active practitioner for over twenty years. Along with her
commitment to directing the standards and continual innovation of her practice,
Ms. Rossman lectures nationally. She has received awards from the American
Speech-Language and Hearing Association for Continuing Education and the 2000
Leadership Award for Innovative Practices from Scientific Learning Corporation
and is a certified Listening Program® provider.
Mary Ann Raymond, M.S., CCC-SLP
Director
Mary Ann brings to the practice 20 years of expertise in speech-language pathology,
education and learning disabilities. She is the former Director of Outreach at
the Newgrange Educational Outreach Center in Princeton, NJ. Ms. Raymond consults
with parents and professionals regarding school placement and services while
coordinating program development at PSLLC.

Lori Araten, M.S., CCC-SLP
Speech-Language Pathologist
Lori graduated from University of Maryland in 1998 with a Bachelor of
Science Degree in Hearing and Speech Sciences. She completed her Master of
Science Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Nova Southeastern in August
2001. While attending graduate school, she worked as a behavioral therapist for
the Dan Morino Center. She has had experience working with children with Autism/PDD
utilizing an Applied Behavioral Analysis approach to therapy. Upon completion of
her Master's Degree, she has provided speech and language therapy to a pediatric
population in elementary schools, homes and private practice. She has also
provided early intervention services and parent education on language
intervention in the home environment. She continues to attend conferences on
autism, apraxia, oral-motor assessment and therapy, social skills, and oral and
written language.
Kathleen Scaler Scott, M.S., CCC-SLP, BRS-FD
Kathleen combines her expertise in
speech-language pathology with additional certifications in special and
elementary education. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in
Speech/Language/Hearing Sciences and her teaching certifications from Douglass
College/Rutgers University in 1991 and her Master of Science in Communication
Disorders from Emerson College in 1993. She specializes in the treatment of
stuttering, social communication issues and learning disabilities. Kathleen has
experience working with children and adults in school, hospital and private
practice settings. She has been
asked to serve as a consultant for
difficult stuttering cases within the school setting. Ms. Scaler Scott
frequently presents at local and national workshops, and is co-author of the
article A Transition Class Curriculum: Preparing a Learning Disabled
Population for the Twenty-First Century. Kathleen is a Board
Recognized Specialist in Fluency Disorders.
Rhonda Rulnick, M.A., CCC-SLP
Speech-Language Pathologist
Rhonda has more than 19 years of experience as
a “voice therapist” on a medical, voice-care team. This experience has afforded
her the opportunity to treat a broad range of voice disorders, including much
work with professional voice users. In addition, she has lectured to many
groups, including medical / professional, academic and community. She completed
her Master's degree in speech-language pathology at George Washington University
in Washington, DC. Rhonda has taken many hours of “continuing education” to always augment her
fund of knowledge in her chosen area of specialty. More recently she took a
course to become a certified provider of “Lee Silverman Voice Therapy” for
Parkinson’s disease. Rhonda was
employed as chief of speech-language pathology at Temple University Hospital
before beginning her work as a “voice specialist” in 1984. She spent 7 years as
an adjunct clinical supervisor at Temple University, supervising graduate
students in their clinical voice practicum and their field work in adult
rehabilitation settings. She has previously worked at Magee Rehabilitation
Hospital in Philadelphia.
Jennifer Ackerman,
MA, CCC-SLP
Jennifer joins us with more than 10 years of
experience working with children, including early intervention with infants and
toddlers. Most recently, she operated a private practice in Lake Zurich, Ill.,
where she treated children with a variety of speech and communication challenges
such as autism spectrum disorders, feeding disorders, sensory issues, dyspraxia,
phonological issues, and expressive/receptive language disorders. Jennifer is
also certified in neurodevelopmental treatment (NDT). Jennifer earned a master’s
degree in speech-language pathology in 1997 from Western Michigan University,
Kalamazoo, Mich., and a bachelor’s degree in speech and hearing from Indiana
University; Bloomington, Ind. Jennifer is in the process of completing her
PROMPT training.
Claire E. Cappio, MA, CCC-SLP
Claire joins us after completing a clinical
fellowship as a speech-language pathologist specializing in children with
cochlear implants and hearing aids at the University of Michigan Cochlear
Implant Center in Ann Arbor, Mich. Her fellowship included extensive training in
auditory verbal (AV) therapy. She earned a master’s degree in speech and hearing
science in 2006 from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C., and
she holds a bachelor’s degree in speech-language pathology from Loyola College
in Maryland, Baltimore. Claire’s clinical experience includes internships at
public and private schools working with children with disabilities such as
autism, cerebral palsy, various speech and language disorders, and hearing
impairments. Claire is in the process of completing her PROMPT and Affect Based
Language Curriculum- Floortime training.
Gretchen Ehret, MA, CCC-SLP
Gretchen joins us as a speech-language
pathologist on a part-time basis, while continuing her work in both public
school and hospital settings. Since graduating with honors from New York
University in 2005 with a master’s degree in speech-language pathology and
audiology, Gretchen has had a broad range of experience creating individualized,
age-appropriate, creative therapy activities for children with articulation,
apraxia, expressive and receptive language and auditory processing difficulties.
Gretchen also holds a bachelor’s degree from The College of New Jersey, Ewing,
N.J., as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
Kara E. Murray, MS, CCC-SLP
Kara joins us after spending the past four years as
a speech-language pathologist at the Cranbury School in Cranbury, N.J. She
provided speech and language therapy to pre-school and school-aged children
focusing on articulation, apraxia, oral motor, fluency, vocabulary expansion,
grammar, auditory processing, memory and listening skills. She has also worked
as a speech language pathologist at St. Lawrence Rehabilitation Center,
Lawrenceville, N.J., assessing and treating adults with speech, language,
cognitive, and swallowing disorders. Kara earned a master’s degree in
communication disorders in 2002 from Emerson College in Boston, and she holds a
bachelor’s degree from Lesley College in Cambridge, Mass. Prior to earning her
degree as a speech-language pathologist, Kara worked as an early
interventionist, helping families with children at risk for developmental
delays. Kara will shortly complete her PROMPT and Affect Based Language
Curriculum -Floortime training.
Learning Specialists
Andrea Auerbach, M.S.
Wilson Reading Specialist
Andrea has a B.A. from New York University, an M.S. in Special
Teaching from the Bank Street College of Education, and is a certified
instructor of The Wilson Reading System. Andrea has taught students with
learning challenges for many years in the New York City public school system.
She has been a classroom and resource room teacher as well as a
teacher/consultant and an educational evaluator in New York’s version of the
Child Study Team. Her passion is getting dyslexic children to read.
Dana L. Hice, M.Ed., LDT/C
Learning Specialist
Dana is a certified
Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant and will offer educational
consultation, evaluations, and tutoring. She has over twelve years of
experience in the field of education. She has served in the role of regular
education teacher, special education teacher, child study team member, and as a
supervisor of student services. Dana has also conducted numerous
professional development seminars for parents, teachers and staff members on
various topics related to learning. She is highly experienced in utilizing
remediation programs and specialized techniques and strategies to assist
students in the areas of reading, writing, math, study and organization skills,
test-taking and core curriculum content areas.
